Nicotex® is manufactured by Cipla flavored sugar-free gum which contains Nicotine. It is used as a therapeutical treatment for Nicotine and Tobacco withdrawal.
Nicotex® contains Nicotine Polacrilex as the main ingredient. Providing an individual with a controlled amount of Nicotine (a lower dose than cigarettes), Nicotex® reduces Nicotine cravings associated with sudden quitting.
The goal of Nicotex® is to help smokers gradually adjust to less dosage of Nicotine in the body and to completely quit after the 12-week program of therapy.
Nicotex® is available in:
- 2mg Min Dosage
- 4mg Low Dosage
Wait 15 minutes after meal or drinking and then start to chew Nicotex® gum slowly until the taste of Nicotine appears.
Place it between the cheek and gum to enable Nicotine absorption.
When the taste of Nicotine disappears, start to chew gum again.
You should chew the gum for about 30 minutes.
For individuals smoking 20 or more cigarettes a day the 4 mg Nicotex® gum is recommended.
For individuals smoking 20 or fewer cigarettes a day the 2 mg Nicotex® is recommended.
Follow the 12-week program schedule:
- Weeks 1-6: chew one piece of gum every 1–2 hours.
- Weeks 7-9: chew one piece of gum every 2–4 hours.
- Weeks 10-12: chew one piece of gum every 4–8 hours.
Missing a dose
If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not use more than 24 pieces of Nicotex® in a day.
If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.
